Description

The Blumat provides the plant with water directly through its porous ceramic cone, where the dry earth sucks water out. The water then rises, through an 80 cm long hose from the adjacent storage vessel in the cone. So 200 ml of water are given to the plant per day. The prerequisite for this regulating suction operation is a lower or at least equal water level in the vessel. The low production capacity is designed for the consumption of indoor plants, two cone sizes allow an adaptation to their needs.

How does the Zimmer Blumat work?
It is first filled with water and sealed. The suction hose must be carefully vented. As the soil dries, the clay cone gradually releases water and creates a vacuum inside. As a result, the water is sucked in from the adjacent vessel.
This is the same Tensiometer principle as the drip-Blumat. In this, however, the negative pressure is used to actuate a valve and the water is introduced with pressure.

Instructions:

  1. Pull off the green cap
  2. Place the ceramic cone in water (15min)
  3. Fill with water up to the brim
  4. Place the green cap firmly on again.
  5. Place the Blumat pointy-tip down into your planter. For larger pots, use two Blumats. Use 1 Blumat every 15-20cm per planter. Make sure that the Blumat has good contact with the soil.
  6. Immerse the hose in a vessel full of water.
  7. The hose must reach the bottom of the vessel.
  8. The green cap has to be higher than the water vessel water level.
  9. Raising or lowering the height of the planter increases or decrease the amount of water released.
